ISLAMABAD (Dec 16, 2017) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Saturday called on party’s disqualified MNA Jahangir Tareen at his residence here after concluding his four-day Karachi visit.
The meeting between the duo held before the party’s core committee huddle due today, which is to decide whether or not to file a review petition in Jahangir Tareen’s disqualification judgment.
The two leaders discussed Supreme Court decision of yesterday in which the PTI’s secretary general had declared disqualified. On the occasion Tareen has offered his resignation from the party post.
On Friday, the Supreme Court announced its much-awaited verdict, rejecting plea to disqualify Imran Khan and declared PTI’s key party leader Jahangir Tareen disqualified on the petitions filed by PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi.
Abbasi had filed the petition seeking disqualification of PTI chief and party’s secretary general Tareen for not disclosing their assets and ownership of the offshore companies.
Following his disqualification, Tareen vowed to continue working for Naya Pakistan. In a statement on his Twitter account, he said, “I worked sincerely with all my strength for the betterment of the PTI and Pakistan. I am proud that all allegations of financial wrongdoing were thrown out. I will continue to stand tall and keep working for a Naya Pakistan.”
