Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi Move IHC for Urgent Hearing in £190M Case

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan along with his wife Bushra Bibi have approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC), seeking an expedited hearing of their appeals in the £190 million reference.

The appeals were filed through their legal counsel, Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, urging the court to prioritize the case and fix an early hearing date.

According to the plea, no substantial progress has been made since the couple’s conviction was handed down on January 17, and the case has not been taken up for hearing since. The petition argued that this prolonged delay not only risks a miscarriage of justice but also raises serious concerns regarding the fairness and transparency of the judicial process.

Highlighting Imran Khan’s status as a former head of government, the petition emphasized that his continued detention is politically motivated, further underlining the need for a prompt and fair review of the case.

“The delay may undermine justice. A timely hearing ensures fairness, and justice must not only be done—but must also be seen to be done,” the petition reads.

The appeal stresses that swift proceedings are essential to uphold the rule of law and restore public confidence in the judicial system.
