ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Muhammad Khan has disclosed that PTI founder Imran Khan expressed his joy over Donald Trump’s victory in the recent US presidential elections.
In an interview to media, Ali Muhammad Khan shared that Imran Khan had conveyed his belief that under Joe Biden’s presidency, there had been foreign interference, creating a negative atmosphere. According to Ali, Khan felt that if Trump were to return to power, it would help neutralize this atmosphere and bring about a positive shift in international relations.
Khan’s cordial relationship with Trump during his tenure as Pakistan’s Prime Minister also mentioned. Ali Muhammad Khan stated that Imran Khan had always valued positive ties with world leaders, particularly Trump, with whom he had cultivated a strong rapport. Khan reportedly expressed that maintaining relations with individuals he had good personal and diplomatic ties with is always beneficial for Pakistan.
In discussing PTI’s political future, Ali Muhammad Khan revealed that he had broached the idea of dialogue with Imran Khan. While Khan acknowledged the importance of dialogue, he remained firm in his belief that PTI’s path forward lay through public protests. He further clarified that the issue of his own release from detention would be addressed domestically, rather than through external intervention, especially from the United States.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, responding to the possibility of US intervention in Imran Khan’s case, expressed doubt that Donald Trump would personally involve himself in securing Khan’s release. Speaking during a special transmission on the US elections, Asif emphasized that the US establishment was extremely powerful arguably more so than Pakistan, that no foreign government would jeopardize its diplomatic relations for the sake of a single individual.
