The Balochistan High Court declared an FIR (First Information Report) filed against Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Imran Khan, by a citizen in the Bijli Ghar police station, as illegal. The FIR had alleged that Imran Khan used inappropriate language against national institutions and their leaders. According to the FIR filed on March 5th, a Judicial Magistrate in Quetta had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the head of PTI.
The Chairman of PTI had challenged the ongoing warrant issued under the FIR in the Balochistan High Court, requesting that the arrest warrant be considered unlawful and be revoked, stating that the FIR was based on false accusations of misconduct.
Imran Khan was represented by the legal team of the Justice for All Forum.
The bench of the Chief Justice Naheem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Gul Hassan Turin, of the High Court, while hearing the request, declared the FIR as illegal and ordered its withdrawal, and subsequently quashed the arrest warrant.
