Islamabad (June 5, 2017): Supreme Court has granted Nehal Hashmi time till June 16 for submitting reply in the sup moto case over the extremely inciting, derogatory, and infuriating speech hurling threats at the judiciary in general and the members of the Joint Investigation Team probing the Panama case.
During today’s appearance before the court which comprises the three-member bench looking after over the implementation of the judgment of five-member larger bench of the apex court.

During his appearance in the court Nehal said that those who used him to give the speech would also appear before the court. Imran Khan is a co-accused he too should be produced with me, he added.
Pleading to court not to punish him before hearing him Nehal said that he had not received the text of his statement Nehal Hashmi plead the court to grant him time to submit his reply.
Nehal asked the court to show the video on his speech in the court to which Justice Ijaz-ul-Hassan said that there was no need to do that. Nehal said that he has always respected the judiciary and was a part of the movement for the restoration of the then chief justice Pakistan.

Nehal also told the court that he wants to go to perform umrah and thus the court may grant he time to submit his reply till after Eid Justice Ijaz Afzal told him that he pitched in in the Lawyers’ Movement and also worked towards the supremacy of the law and in view of all this teh court could fix June 15 as the next day of hearing. To this Nehal said that he has to host an Iftar party on that date and the court may push the date further.
At this point Justice Ijazul Hassan addressing Nehal said that, “this is a serious issue, you are taking the case lightly.” With this Justice Ijazul Hassan granted Nehal time till June 16 to submit his reply and adjourned the hearing till then.
Granting time to Nehal the court later adjourned the hearing till June 16.
Talking to media outside Court
Talking to media after the hearing Nehal Hashmi claimed that the infuriating speech over which the apex court has initiated proceedings against him ‘was a speech of a patriotic Pakistani and that during its nonstop play for straight 24 hours it was twisted’. I told the court that excess was committed to me, an ‘innocent’ Nehal Hashmi said to the media.
Without giving name or a hint Nehal ‘informed’ the media that “a certain power wants clash of the institutions.”
