Islamabad: It is likely that electricity prices will go up by Rs 3. 12 as National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hear a request from Central Power Purchasing agency tomorrow.
In case of increase people will face an additional burden of Rs 30 billion while the request has been made for fuel adjustment charges in the month of December.
Central Power Purchasing Agency said that 8. 52 Billion units of the electricity produced in the month of December adding that the production cost of the electricity remained Rs 73. 83 billion while from furnace oil the most expensive electricity was generated by Rs 22, 34 per unit,
From LNG Rs.17.80 per unit electricity was generated while per unit Rs 14. 8 electricity was generated from diesel.
Production cost from coal for electricity generation was Rs 13. 31 while the electricity imported from Iran cost Rs 13. 26 per unit.
