India engages in diplomatic meetings with Taliban despite past opposition, Senator Sherry Rehman

KARACHI: Senator Sherry Rehman has raised concerns over evolving regional relations, particularly highlighting India’s recent engagement with the Taliban despite its previous opposition.

Speaking to a private television channel, Sherry Rehman stressed that, Pakistan’s western border remains a sensitive area and cautioned against misleading narratives surrounding regional diplomacy.

Addressing recent developments, Rehman pointed out that India has attempted to craft a false narrative driven by misinformation, asserting that Pakistan has achieved significant diplomatic success in countering such efforts. She also noted that within India, dissent is emerging against the Indian government’s stance, suggesting a shift in internal perspectives.

Sherry emphasized that, Pakistan’s approach cannot be restricted or shut off like a tap, referencing the Sindh River, symbolizing the country’s resilience and ongoing commitment to regional stability. She also highlighted that over the past two to three years, Pakistan has focused on economic growth, and the international community is observing the nation’s progress differently.

Despite these positive developments, Rehman reaffirmed that Pakistan’s fight against terrorism continues unabated, underscoring the country’s ongoing security challenges.

In a recent development, Sherry’s official account on X was blocked on Saturday, a move that has sparked discussions about freedom of expression and digital rights.
