Indian forces fail to vacate building from fighters despite passage of 30 hrs

SRINAGAR: India occupation forces have failed to vacate a government building in Shopian area, which was taken over by armed freedom fighters yesterday, despite the passage of some 30 hours.

According to Indian media,  the security forces are battling the armed men in Pampore on the outskirts of Srinagar, who are hiding in a large government building.

The army’s Special Forces, paramilitary soldiers and counter-insurgency police began firing back at the armed men in the Entrepreneurship Development Institute at about 6.30 am yesterday. The same building had been attacked in February. Five soldiers and a civilian were killed before three fighter were shot dead.

India media reports said that grenade explosions were heard intermittently at the institute, parts of which are on fire.
