India must focus on resolving its internal issues instead of deflecting blame onto others, says FO.

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to extending unwavering political, moral, and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir while appreciating Afghanistan’s recent remarks.

During the weekly media briefing on Thursday, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi highlighted the observance of the Right to Self-Determination Day for Jammu and Kashmir earlier this week, emphasizing its significance as a reminder of the United Nations Security Council resolutions on the dispute.

Andrabi pointed out that numerous human rights advocates and political leaders remain imprisoned in Jammu and Kashmir. He further accused India of attempting to alter the region’s demographic structure since August 5, 2019.

Turning to Afghanistan, Andrabi noted Pakistan’s welcome of recent comments from Kabul but stressed the importance of receiving verified, tangible assurances from Afghan leadership. He emphasized that Afghanistan’s territory must not be used against any nation.

The spokesperson also reiterated Pakistan’s backing for China’s initiatives aimed at achieving national unity. He mentioned that during the strategic dialogue between Pakistan and China, discussions included the Kashmir issue, which China recognized as a longstanding historical dispute in need of resolution. Additionally, both nations agreed to strengthen coordination on projects under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0).

Addressing regional tensions, Andrabi firmly dismissed recent remarks by the Indian foreign minister as baseless and misleading, describing them as a diversionary tactic to draw attention away from India’s own state-sponsored terrorism. He accused India of supporting terrorism on both regional and global fronts while underscoring that such allegations against Pakistan are an attempt to conceal its own destabilizing activities. He stated that India should address its own internal issues rather than shifting blame onto others.
