Dhakha: Maldives President Dr Mohammad Muizzu got the throne of his country by running a “India out” campaign against former pro-Indian president Mohmmad Saleh, now the slogan “India out” is again echoeing but this time in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh premier Shiekh Hasina Wajid has taunted and sarcastically blasted on the opposition party Bangladesh National Party (BNP) and said that why didn’t opposition members wives burn their sarees brought to the country from India.
Not only this, the Bangladeshi premier also hit hard on the opposition parties by saying in the mammoth crowd of her party Awami League rally that no Indian masalas should be seen in the house of the opposition members.
She also alleged the opposition party BNP, whenever their ministers visit India they bought Indian sarees and sold out in Bangladesh when they were in power.
The Bangladesh premier outburst came in reaction of one of Bangladesh opposition member Rohul Kabir Rizvi symbolic protest as “Out India” protest by throwing his Indian shawl.
The campaign “Out India” took momentum after the BNP boycotted the recent election won by the Awami League who has been ruling the country more than a decade.
Influencers, social activists and influential personalities under the alliance People Activists Coalition have been running this campaign of boycotting Indian products which also has a support of the BNP.
The BNP said that the campaign is the demand of the people whereas the party has not given clear message regarding the campaign but the party politicians are gearing up the campaign.
Analysts say that the opposition parties wanted their rebirth after more than decade rule of the Awami League.
It is also said that the masses of Bangladesh thought that India keeping its self in back ground has been supporting the Sheikh Hasena Wajid government to continue its rule.
Internationally the USA says that we know sentiments of the people of Bangladesh and their campaign but we want work together with India and Bangladesh.
On the other hand Bangladesh borderly state of India West Bengal ruling coaltion Trinamool Congress party leader Jawahir Sarkar has expressed his serious concerns over the India out campaign in Bangladesh.
Jawahir Sarkar in his mesage on social media X, he said that every neighbour of India is disgruntled and angry with India, which are Pakistan, Nepal, Bhuttan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh.
There is another point of view which states that no doubt Bangladesh is among the countries speeding up at their economic front while China and Japan have been working its infrastructure. Whereas Bangladesh imports stone to soil from India.
They also say that it is not a matter of boycott of cloth only, Bangladesh relies on India from the kitchen masalas to medicines, even Bangladesh imports onion, garlic, coconut, oil, edible oil from India as well.
Political commentators say that the India Out campaign will not work in Bangladesh like Maldives despite having Chinese influence on the country.
