Indian-backed terrorists martyr Army Major in Awaran Baluchistan

RAWALPINDI: The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that Indian supported militants martyred a Pakistan Army Major in the Awaran district of Baluchistan.

According to a military statement, the incident took place during an intelligence-led operation targeting suspected terrorists in the region, who were believed to be affiliated with the Indian proxy group, Fitna al-Hindustan.

During the operation, security forces engaged the militants effectively, resulting in the elimination of three Indian-sponsored terrorists. Unfortunately, in the intense exchange of fire, Major Syed Rabnawaz Tariq, aged 34 and a resident of Muzaffarabad, was fatally wounded. Described as a courageous officer who led from the front, Major Tariq made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

In the aftermath, a clearance operation was initiated to neutralize any remaining threats in the area. The military reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating Indian-backed terrorism and praised the sacrifices of its personnel, emphasizing that such acts strengthen their resolve.

Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has faced an increase in cross-border terrorist activities, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Despite a rise in militant attacks in May 2025, the overall security situation remains relatively contained, with data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) noting a modest 5% increase compared to April, reflecting ongoing efforts to counter extremism amid regional tensions with India.
