WEB DESK: The Indian government has approved the participation of the Indian cricket team in the Asia Cup 2025, paving the way for the upcoming India-Pakistan clash next month.
The Ministry of Sports in India confirmed that the Indian men’s cricket team will take part in the Asia Cup 2025, as it is a multilateral event.According to Indian news agencies, the Ministry of Sports announced that India and Pakistan teams may face each other in international competitions. However, a bilateral series between the two nations will not take place under any circumstances.
The Ministry of Sports stated that no cricket team will be permitted to travel to Pakistan, and similarly, no Pakistani team will participate in bilateral matches in India.
The ministry further clarified that under the new policy, India’s team will play against Pakistan in the Asia Cup as per the scheduled fixtures, given that it is a multilateral tournament featuring other regional teams besides Pakistan.
It is noteworthy that the Asia Cup is set to begin in the UAE on September 9. The India-Pakistan match is scheduled to be played in Dubai on September 14.
