Russian oil exports to India may decline as refiners await official directives from New Delhi. This comes after President Trump claimed Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged to cease importing the crude.
Executives from multiple state-owned Indian refiners expressed surprise at Trump’s remarks. They revealed that they had not received any communication or guidance from New Delhi or related ministries regarding the issue.
India’s acquisition of Russian crude has faced growing criticism in recent months, with Washington citing the trade as a rationale for imposing substantial tariffs on the South Asian country.
