Indian telecom engineer detained in Bahrain over alleged espionage for Israel

MANAMA: Authorities in Bahrain have taken an Indian telecommunications engineer into custody on suspicion of conducting espionage activities on behalf of Israel.

Officials stated that the suspect, identified as Nitin Mohan, is accused of secretly gathering geospatial intelligence, photographs, and video footage of key and strategically important sites in Bahrain. The collected material was allegedly transmitted to Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad.

Preliminary findings suggest that the shared information could have been used by foreign intelligence services for analytical purposes and potential targeting. Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior confirmed the arrest but has not disclosed additional details as investigations remain ongoing.

The development follows recent reports from Saudi Arabia and Qatar, where authorities claimed to have detained individuals allegedly connected to Mossad. Those suspects were reportedly accused of plotting bomb attacks in the Gulf region, allegedly intended to fuel unrest and heighten existing regional tensions.
