Indian wife of Pakistani not being allowed to leave HC in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: An Indian woman, who contracted free will marriage with a Pakistani man, has allegedly been detained by Indian High Commission in Islamabad and is not being allowed to leave the high commission.

The husband of the woman, who is a resident of Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has filed an application in Secretariat Police station, complaining that his wife has been detained by the Indian HC and is not being allowed to leave the Commission.

Dr Uzma, who is resident of New Delhi, and Tahir met and fell in love with each other in Malaysia, after which she travelled to Pakistan on May 1 via the Wagah border.

The two contracted nikkah on May 3. Tahir went to the High Commissions along with his wife Uzma to apply for India’s visa. However, she was not allowed to leave the high commission.

Tahir has filed an application in Secretariat Police Station Secretariat Police Station against the detention of his wife. He has requested for registration of FIR against Indian High Commissioner for detaining his wife.

On the other hand, the Indian High Commission claimed that Uzma has been staying there out of her own will.
