WEB DESK: Highest-paid actress in India has just signed a 30 crore deal, surpassing the likes of Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Nayanthara.
Fees of actors in Indian cinema are a heavily guarded secret, every once in a while, news reports and dignified rumours break the iron curtain and lay bare the astronomical amounts our superstars charge per film.
When it comes to mentioning the highest-paid actresses, you might think of names like Deepika Padukone or Alia Bhatt, but that estimate is not correct.
Title of the highest-paid actress in India has recently changed as a star secured a hefty fee of 30 crores primarily for her return to Indian films.
Priyanka Chopra, India’s highest-paid actress, is set to make her much-anticipated return to Indian cinema after nearly six years, starring in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming project alongside Mahesh Babu.
This film also marks her comeback to South Indian cinema after more than two decades.
According to bollywood sources, Priyanka has reportedly commanded an impressive fee of ₹30 crore for this role, making her the highest-paid Indian actress for a single film to date.
A source close to the project revealed, “The announcement of her participation took time because she was firm about her fee, and rightfully so. It’s essential for female actors to receive equal pay to their male counterparts in the industry.”
The fee of 30 crore for the actress in ‘SSMB 29’ is the highest ever compensation for a female star in any Indian film.
Before Priyanka signed the contract for Rajamouli’s jungle adventure, Deepika Padukone held the record for the highest fee charged by an Indian actress at 20 crore for ‘Kalanki 2898 AD’.
Her ‘junior,’ Alia Bhatt, reportedly charges up to 15 crore per film, while Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu all receive 10 crore or more per project.
