Inflation Increased By 32.57pc on Year-on-Year Basis

ISLAMABAD: The year-on-year trend depicts an increase of 32.57 percent while the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI)-based inflation rose by 0.45 percent for the week ended January 26, 2023.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the increase in the price of food items such as onions by 5.51 percent, rice irri-6/9 by 4.51 percent, tomatoes by 4.18 percent, bananas by 3.57 percent, rice basmati broken by 3.56 percent, garlic by 3.47 percent, wheat flour by 1.81 percent and non-food item LPG increased by 5.29 percent is what caused the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI)-based inflation to rise by 0.45 percent for the week ended January 26, 2023.

The year-on-year trend depicts an increase of 32.57 percent mainly due to an increase in the prices of onions by 532.23 percent, chicken by 102.09 percent, eggs by 69.48 percent, tea Lipton by 63.92 percent, rice basmati broken by 61.23 percent, diesel by 57.34 percent, pulse moong by 57.16 percent, rice irri-6/9 by 57.05 percent, bananas by 53.95 percent, salt powdered by 49.50 percent, wheat flour by 48.71 percent, bread by 46.53 percent and petrol increased by 45.21 percent.
