Inmates affiliated with banned outfit SIMI breakout from jail

NEW DELHI: Eight activists of the banned outfit SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India) escaped from the Bhopal Central Jail after killing a security guard and scaling the prison wall rope woven from bed sheets.

Home Minister of Indian state of Madhya Pradesh Bhupendra Singh said that five jail officials had been suspendedwhile The city has been put on alert.

The Indian media further said that the escapees slit a guard’s throat with steel plate and glass after overpowering him.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. last night.

All the eight escapees were killed after they attacked and injured the police with spoons and plates in a village about eight kilometers away hours after the daring jailbreak.
