DOHA: The 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union chaired by National Assembly speaker Asad Qaisar began in Doha, Qatar today.
Delegates from over 160 countries, including 80 Speakers of Parliament, 40 Deputy Speakers, and over 825 MPs are in attendance for the five-day event.
The theme of this year’s general debate is parliaments as platforms to enhance education for peace, security and the rule of law.
Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser is leading a ten-member parliamentary delegation to represent Pakistan at the congregation.
Addressing to the assembly, Asad Qaisar said that expressed regret over the Christchurch terror attack on mosques and stressed for the need durable parliamentary diplomacy among the various countries across the world.
