Islamabad: Caretaker Health Minister Dr Nadeem Jan says interim government is committed to actively implement a special emergency response plan to eradicate polio in the country.
Talking to a private news channel, he said polio vaccination campaign in remote areas and tribal is significant in reduction of polio cases in the country.
Dr Nadeem Jan Ministry of Health is actively involved in the polio program and we will ensure that the focus on polio remains unwavering.
The Health Minister said present government will maintain zero tolerance regarding provision of quality medicines to patients in government hospitals.
Earlier, Caretaker Minister for Health Dr Nadeem Jan says the government is taking effective measures to ensure universal health coverage.
He was talking to Brazilian Ambassador to Pakistan, Olyntho Vieira, who called on him in Islamabad.
Dr Nadeem Jan said health facilities in hospitals are being developed on modern lines and compliance with the recommendations of International Health Regulations is being ensured.
He said an integrated strategy has been formulated to protect against epidemics and the Border Health Services are being strengthened in this regard.
The Minister also reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicate polio from the country and work on emergency basis for this purpose.
