KARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari at Bilawal House on Monday.
During the discussion, the two leaders exchanged views on current political developments, internal security concerns, and mutual interests. Mohsin Naqvi provided a detailed update on the government’s efforts to maintain law and order, emphasizing the importance of collective action to enhance internal stability.
Bilawal Bhutto highlighted that Pakistan’s challenges could only be addressed through unity and consensus among all political factions. The interior minister reaffirmed that joint efforts are crucial for ensuring the country’s peace and security. Bilawal appreciated the government’s recent initiatives aimed at improving security and praised Mohsin Naqvi’s leadership in fostering peace nationwide.
Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had a key meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which he voiced concerns and dissatisfaction over the coalition government’s functioning, especially in Punjab and at the federal level.Sources revealed that Bilawal expressed frustration over the PPP’s perceived marginalization within the coalition, stating that the party was not being given adequate importance by either the Punjab or federal governments. He conveyed to the Prime Minister that while the PPP wished to remain a part of the coalition, its role and contributions were being overlooked, making cooperation increasingly challenging.
Bilawal also criticized the internal dynamics, noting that while the PPP had praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s governance, this gesture was met with criticism from within the ruling party’s ranks. The discussions also covered political issues specific to Punjab, with PM Shehbaz Sharif reassuring the PPP leadership that their concerns would be addressed.
Sources indicated that most of the grievances stemmed from issues with the PML-N leadership, and the Prime Minister emphasized that only high-level engagement between the parties could resolve these matters. Both parties agreed to maintain a low profile in public comments and to keep open lines of communication regarding Punjab’s political issues to prevent misunderstandings and foster cooperation.
