Interior Ministry present report in Senate on religious seminaries in Punjab  

ISLAMABAD: Interior Ministry on Friday presented a report regarding religious seminaries located in Punjab province.  

The Senate session was held here with Chairman Raza Rabbani in the chair. The proceeding of the house was suspended for offering Fateha for those killed in Sehwan tragedy.

Opposition lodged strong protest against non-presence of ministers in the house during Questions Hour and staged walkout.  Chairman Senate remarked that the ministers did not come to the house and if the government was not serious in running the house, then no session of Senate would be called in future.

During the session, State Minister for Interior Baleegh-ur-Rehamn gave in-camera briefing to the house regarding the recent terrorist incidents in the country. In a written reply, the house was told that location of all seminaries of Punjab were obtained while 1900 CCTV cameras had been installed in Islamabad under Safe City project.

He pointed out that these cameras are helping to identify the criminals and stop crimes. He said private shopping malls and business centres were also being encouraged to install these cameras.

The Minister of State said that Punjab Government was also going to implement safe city project in six cities in the province.

Replying to a question, Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch informed the House that FATA Development Authority was taking steps to promote industrial sector in FATA. He said Marble City in Mohmand Agency, with a capacity to accommodate about 290 industrial units, was in advanced stages of completion and was being included in the CPEC. He said two industrial estates were being established in FR Kohat and North Waziristan Agency.
