Islamabad: The Interior ministry has refuted a news item that says the ministry rejected the provincial governments request shutting down internet during Muharram Ul Haram.
The spokesman of the interior ministry said that the ministry has not taken decision in this regard yet.
The spokesman added that the Prime Minister office also not issued any direction in this regard.
Neither any province request has been approved nor the request rejected yet, the spokesman said that people should avoid speculation on this matter.
It is merit to mention here that Punjab government had requested banning the social media during Muharram.
