WEB DESK: The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Afghan Taliban leaders, including Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada and Chief Justice Abdul Hakim Haqqani.
According to foreign news agencies, the warrants were issued in connection with allegations of forced actions against women. The ICC cited credible evidence suggesting that the Taliban leaders have committed crimes against humanity based on gender discrimination.
The court’s judges stated that there is sufficient evidence indicating that these leaders have engaged in gender-based crimes against women, constituting serious violations of human rights.
This development marks a significant step in holding those responsible for human rights abuses accountable at the international level.
