ISLAMABAD: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal stated that artificial intelligence is driving Pakistan’s economic growth.
Speaking at the AI Rise Pakistan Expo 2025, he highlighted efforts to digitize the country under the E-Pakistan pillar of the Uraan Pakistan program and advance its space sector.
He mentioned initiatives to establish centers for quantum computing, nanotechnology, and advanced manufacturing, emphasizing the future role of quantum technology in global competitiveness. The Quantum Valley Pakistan initiative aims to be a hub for deep-tech development.
Iqbal reiterated the goal of equipping Pakistan with advanced technology to enhance its global standing. He noted that technology leaders will shape the global economy.
Under Uraan Pakistan, the finalized E-Pakistan strategy focuses on exports, digital growth, and innovation. He also stressed the importance of robotics for industrial modernization and satellite technology for boosting food, trade, and communication sectors. Efforts are underway to connect university research with industry and exports.
