Doha: Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani secured Tehran’s agreement to the U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in the conflict between Israel and Iran during a call with Iranian officials held after Iran’s strikes on a U.S. air base in Qatar on Monday,
An official briefed on the negotiations told a British news wire service early on Tuesday.
The phone call came after U.S. president Donald Trump told Qatar’s emir that Israel had agreed to the ceasefire and asked for Doha’s help persuading Tehran to also agree to the ceasefire deal, the official said.
On the other hand, Israel has agreed to US President Donald Trump’s proposal for a ceasefire with Iran, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement, after US President Donald Trump said the truce is now in effect and urged both sides not to violate it.
The announcements came after Iran launched several volleys of missiles at Israel, killing at least four people in the southern city of Beersheba.
