TEL AVIV: Iran has reportedly launched a series of missile strikes toward Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, triggering panic among passengers present at the airport.
Reports state that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) began a fresh wave of attacks titled “Ya Amir al-Momineen (A.S.)” in connection with the observance of the 21st night of Ramadan. The strikes are said to be part of Iran’s ongoing retaliation campaign against Israel under “Operation True Promise 4,” which Iranian sources describe as the 37th phase of the operation.
Iranian media outlets claim that the missiles were fired following Quran recitation and special prayers held to mark the religious occasion. Videos circulating on Iranian platforms allegedly show multiple missiles landing in the vicinity of Ben Gurion Airport, with explosions and flames visible in the footage.
Reports suggest that Israel’s air defense systems faced difficulties intercepting the incoming missiles. The situation reportedly caused confusion and fear among passengers at the airport, with many attempting to leave the area amid concerns about further strikes.
According to the reports, areas in central Tel Aviv and Be’er Ya’akov were also targeted using “Qadr” and “Khyber Shekan” missiles, which are believed to carry warheads weighing around one ton.
Footage released by Iranian military-linked sources also reportedly shows a message written on one of the missiles that reads, “In memory of the victims of Epstein Island.”
The IRGC has claimed that the attack significantly damaged Israeli defense capabilities and also struck U.S. and Israeli facilities in Erbil. However, these claims have not yet been independently verified.
