TEHRAN: Iran has dismissed the United States’ recent call for a ceasefire, warning that any pauses in hostilities would only give adversaries the opportunity to regroup and carry out additional acts against the country, according to state media reports.
Press TV quoted Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, as saying that a 15-point American proposal aimed at halting Washington’s ongoing aggression was unacceptable. The proposal, communicated through intermediaries, included demands for Iran to halt its peaceful nuclear activities, restrict its missile program, and reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Iran has firmly rejected the first two requests.
Baghaei emphasized that Iran would not accept unilateral ceasefire declarations. Instead, he called for a complete end to hostile actions and insisted Iran should receive compensation for extensive infrastructural damages incurred. He criticized the US demands as “excessive and unreasonable,” citing President Donald Trump’s threats to target Iran’s vital infrastructure if it refused to comply.
The spokesperson also accused Washington of hypocrisy, asserting that the US’s claims of pursuing diplomacy are contradicted by its ongoing hostile actions against Iran. He condemned the US and Israeli actions, calling them war crimes, especially in light of threats and atrocities endorsed by Israel.
Baghaei warned of potential false-flag operations orchestrated by the US and Israel, including in Europe, to justify further aggression. He stated, “False-flag attacks are real, not just conspiracy theories; they have been carried out multiple times by the US and the Zionist regime. We urge everyone to stay vigilant.”
He also criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for remaining silent on attacks targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, accusing the UN watchdog of attempting to “normalize” these acts by refusing to condemn or acknowledge them.
Iran remains committed to defending its sovereignty and has prepared a document outlining its own demands, which will be communicated when deemed necessary, emphasizing the importance of national interests amid ongoing tensions.
