Iran says US can no longer ‘Impose’ policies on other nations

TEHRAN: Iran declared on Tuesday that the United States no longer holds the power to enforce its policies on other nations, as Washington reviews a fresh proposal from Tehran regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The key shipping route has been largely blocked by Iran since the early stages of its conflict involving the US and Israel. This disruption has rattled global energy markets, placing the strait at the heart of ongoing diplomatic discussions.

Speaking to state television, defence ministry spokesman Reza Talaei-Nik said Washington must accept that it can no longer dictate terms to independent states and should abandon what he described as “unlawful and unreasonable demands.”

Although active fighting has paused under a ceasefire, negotiations aimed at securing a lasting resolution remain unresolved.

Reports suggest the latest Iranian proposal could allow shipping to resume through the Strait of Hormuz while broader talks continue.

Meanwhile, Iran signaled its willingness to deepen military cooperation with partners, particularly within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. Talaei-Nik noted that Tehran is prepared to share its defensive capabilities with allied and member nations.

The developments come as diplomatic efforts continue, with the future of regional stability and global energy supply still uncertain.
