Irfan Hayat Bajwa wins Lahore Bar Association presidency

LAHORE: Irfan Hayat Bajwa, backed by Hamid Khan’s panel, has been elected president of the Lahore Bar Association after securing 3,559 votes in the elections held on Saturday.

His closest rival, Adeeb Aslam Bhinder from Asma Jahangir’s group, finished second with 3,154 votes, while independent contender Shahid Jamal Butt obtained 122 votes.

Following the announcement of results, Bajwa thanked his supporters and stated that he would honor all commitments made to the legal community during his election campaign.

In other results, Mian Tahir Munir and Humayun Zaheer Bhatti were elected as vice presidents. Zahid Mahmood Gul won the vice president seat for Cantt, while Asif Kanwal Khan was elected vice president for Model Town.

Malik Fahad Nisar emerged victorious in the secretary race with 4,210 votes. Samina Basra secured the joint secretary position by obtaining 4,251 votes, and Zohaib Khan won the finance secretary seat with 4,973 votes. Nauman Goraya was elected secretary library after receiving 1,865 votes.

Supporters of the successful candidates celebrated the victory inside the Bar Hall, dancing to drumbeats and chanting slogans.
