Irregularities surface in Punjab Govt’s ‘Safe City Project’

LAHORE:   The Punjab government’s Safe City project has been hit by allegations of corruption and irregularities and on Friday it emerged that the provincial government paid some Rs1.5 billion to the project’s consultant even before allocation of funds for the project.

As per the documents obtained by Abb Takk News, the consultant of the Safe City Project was made advance payment even before allocation of funds for the project.

Under the head of constancy, over Rs440 million were paid for Lahore’s project out of which over Rs 133 million were paid to Nespak.

For Safe City project of Bahawalpur over Rs 147 millions were paid to the constant. For Safe City Project Faisalabad, over Rs 226 million were paid under the head of consultancy, while for Safe City Project Gujranwal, Rs 206 million were paid and over Rs147 million were paid for Safe City Project Multan as consultancy fees.

Over Rs233 million were paid as consultancy fees for Safe City Project Rawalpindi.
