KARACHI: Pakistani actor and television host Adnan Siddiqui has addressed speculation over Indian entertainer Rakhi Sawant potentially appearing on Pakistan’s popular reality show Tamasha.
During a recent interview, Adnan was asked whether he could handle Rakhi if she were to join the show as a contestant.
Reacting with a smile, the actor described the idea as a “dream”, while acknowledging that cross-border participation between Pakistani and Indian entertainment shows has become difficult under the current circumstances.
The interviewer noted that artists from both countries had previously appeared on each other’s reality programmes. Adnan agreed that such collaborations are currently not easy.
He nevertheless said Rakhi would bring plenty of entertainment to the show if she ever became part of the cast. “Bari entertaining hongi agar wo aayi,” he remarked.
Adnan also reflected on Tamasha’s popularity beyond Pakistan, recalling a memorable phone call he received from veteran Indian comedian Johnny Lever during the first season.
According to Adnan, he and Lever had never met or spoken before, but the Bollywood comedian personally contacted him to praise his hosting skills.
“Bhai aap bohot khoob kar rahe hain,” Lever reportedly told him.
Adnan said Lever may have obtained his contact details through Pakistani comedian Rauf Lala.
The actor further revealed that Tamasha has developed a following among Indian viewers since its debut, with audiences and content creators across the border regularly watching the programme and sharing their reactions.
Adnan Siddiqui began his acting career in the 1990s and made his television debut in the 1994 PTV drama Aroosa. He later established himself as one of Pakistan’s prominent television actors, earning widespread recognition for dramas such as Mere Paas Tum Ho.
His career has also extended beyond Pakistan’s television industry. He appeared alongside Angelina Jolie in the Hollywood film A Mighty Heart and featured in the Bollywood movie Mom, starring the late Sridevi.
In addition to acting and hosting, Adnan has worked as a producer and founded Cereal Entertainment.
