Ishaq Dar denies rumors of Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail

LAHORE: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has dismissed reports suggesting that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif may meet Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, labeling such claims as mere speculation.

During a media interaction at Data Darbar in Lahore, a journalist asked Dar whether Nawaz Sharif was planning to meet Imran Khan in jail. Dar responded, “Such meetings may be a wish for some, but we see no need for anyone to go there. The law will take its own course.” He also criticized the spreading of unofficial, sponsor-driven rumors about such meetings.

The Foreign Minister also denied reports that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had demanded ministries, clarifying that PPP has not made any such requests. He emphasized that PPP remains an ally of the government and will continue to support it, especially after the government’s recent achievement of a simple majority in Parliament. Dar praised PPP’s support during difficult times and assured they will not abandon the coalition now.

Dar further stated that the government is ready to work with all political parties, whether they are part of the ruling coalition or in the opposition. He recalled the united front shown by government and opposition parties during the attack on Pakistan, describing it as an exemplary experience, but reiterated that this unity does not mean the Constitution and laws can be ignored.

He emphasized that during the attack on Pakistan, all parties were engaged, and the world witnessed a united Pakistani voice. Dar assured that the law and constitution will be fully upheld. If corruption has occurred, it must be exposed, and legal action should be taken to eradicate it wherever it exists.
