Ishaq Dar departs for Beijing for Pak–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has left for Beijing to jointly lead the 7th Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, set to be held on January 4, 2026, the Foreign Office announced.

The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs.

The Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue serves as the most senior consultation forum between Pakistan and China, offering an opportunity to assess bilateral cooperation across all sectors, as well as discuss regional and global issues of shared concern.

During the talks, both sides are expected to unveil several initiatives and celebratory activities in connection with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, which will be observed in 2026.

According to the Foreign Office, the visit forms part of continued high-level engagement between the two nations and underscores their resolve to further deepen the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. It also highlights their joint commitment to promoting regional peace, stability, and sustainable development.

Prior to his departure, Senator Ishaq Dar met Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad on Monday. During the meeting, Ambassador Jiang extended New Year greetings and conveyed best wishes on behalf of Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

In response, the Deputy Prime Minister reciprocated the greetings and expressed gratitude for China’s consistent support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and development efforts. He also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering backing of China on its core interests, including steadfast adherence to the One-China Policy.
