Islamabad Bar Council and District Bar Association declares three days mourning and one-day strike

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Bar Council and District Bar Association have declared three days of mourning and a one-day strike in response to the recent attack.

Today, the District Judicial Complex is entirely closed, with all hearings postponed. Lawyers, clients, and court staff have been advised to avoid visiting the premises. Bar officials, including President Naeem Gujar, have called on members to remain at home and unite in shared grief.

As a result of the suspended court activities, more than 1,000 cases scheduled for the day have been delayed without proceedings. Updated cause lists bearing new dates have been displayed outside the courthouse, instructing individuals to attend their newly assigned hearing dates.

A devastating suicide bombing outside the Islamabad Judicial Complex on Tuesday claimed 12 lives and left 36 injured, including lawyers and civilians. The explosion, which occurred near the District Court gate, sent ripples of shock and sorrow through the capital’s legal and administrative communities.

According to police reports, the suicide bomber set off explosives at the complex’s entrance, causing significant damage to vehicles and surrounding property. The Counter-Terrorism Department has registered a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act, listing grave charges such as murder, attempted murder, and inciting public panic.
