Islamabad Municipal Authority Moves Against Fraudulent Parking Contractor to Protect Public Interests

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) has officially ended its partnership with AJCL, the firm responsible for implementing the digital parking system across Islamabad.

As per detail, the move came after ongoing violations, negligence, and financial misconduct by the company, which had failed to fulfill its contractual commitments, thus jeopardizing public safety and resulting in substantial revenue losses.

An investigation uncovered that AJCL did not install the promised electronic payment infrastructure, resorted to unaccounted cash transactions, and neglected critical security protocols—leading to thefts and inconvenience for the public. Despite multiple warnings and notices, the company refused to address these issues, prompting legal action. An FIR has been filed with Kohsar Police Station, and the contract has been officially canceled.

Since assuming direct control over parking operations, the DMA has reported a significant rise in revenue, reflecting the advantages of transparent and accountable management. AJCL has responded by filing a lawsuit against the DMA, which the administration plans to vigorously challenge in court.
