TEL AVIV: Israeli fighter jets violated Iraqi airspace on Friday, flying over Najaf, Karbala, and Basra.
During a United Nations Security Council meeting, the Iraqi envoy stated that just before the session began, 50 Israeli aircraft violated Iraqi airspace.
Iraq’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Abbas Kazim Obaid Al-Fatlawi, said that these aircraft came from the border areas of Syria and Jordan.
He further explained that initially, there were 20 aircraft, followed by an additional 30 aircraft entering Iraqi airspace, heading towards southern Iraq. These aircraft passed over Karbala, Najaf, and Basra.
The Iraqi envoy added that this violation of Iraqi airspace is a clear breach of international law and the UN Charter.Abbas Kazim Obaid Al-Fatlawi expressed that these flights pose a threat to these holy cities and sites, and given their significance to the Iraqi people, they could trigger a strong public response.
