WEB DESK: Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have claimed the lives of at least 65 individuals over the past 24 hours. Among the deceased are women, children, and two journalists, reported by the Palestinian health authority
The situation in Gaza has escalated dramatically as Israeli forces initiated a new offensive last Tuesday, marked by a series of airstrikes that have claimed approximately 700 lives, predominantly among civilians, as reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry, which operates under Hamas.
This renewed violence has forced many Palestinians to flee in search of safety, shattering a two-month period of relative calm.
Tragically, two journalists were killed in the recent bombardments. Hossam Shabat, a journalist for Al Jazeera Mubasher, lost his life in northern Gaza when his vehicle was struck in Beit Lahiya. Witnesses reported that the attack targeted him specifically.
In a separate incident, Mohammad Mansour, a reporter for Palestine Today, was killed in Khan Younis during an Israeli airstrike that also affected his family, with reports indicating he was attacked at home alongside his wife and son, without warning.
The Israel Defense Forces have not commented on these incidents. The Palestinian Journalist Syndicate reported that the violence has resulted in the deaths of at least 208 journalists and media workers since October 2023, reflecting the perilous conditions faced by those reporting from the region.
