Tel Aviv: Shosh Bedrosian, spokesperson for the Israeli government, stated that a ceasefire in Gaza is set to begin within 24 hours following the cabinet’s approval of the agreement.
In a press briefing, Bedrosian mentioned that Israel finalized and signed the agreement’s draft in Egypt this morning. She explained that once the ceasefire is in effect, a 72-hour window will open for prisoner and hostage exchanges.
She also noted that Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti will not be released from Israeli detention.
According to Bedrosian, once the exchange concludes, Israeli troops will withdraw behind the ‘Yellow Line,’ although Israel will continue to control roughly 53% of the Gaza Strip.
