Occupied Al-Quds: At least 31 Palestinians martyred in Israeli attacks across Gaza in the last 24 hours, including eight in an attack on a school sheltering displaced people.
Besides that an attack near Jordan’s border with occupied West Bank has killed at least three Israeli civilians.
Lebanon’s PM Najib Mikati condemned Israel’s “blatant violation” of “human values” after three paramedics were killed on Saturday in an attack in southern Lebanon.
At least 40,939 people have been killed and 94,616 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza. At least 1,139 people were killed in Israel in the Hamas-led attacks on October 7. Some 239 people were taken captive.
New security measures will ‘target’ Palestinians in the West Bank
Luciano Zaccara, a research associate professor of Gulf politics at Qatar University, says the Israeli and Jordanian authorities temporarily closing only the King Hussien (Allenby) Bridge, and not crossings between Israel and Jordan, it’s likely that only the occupied West Bank will be “isolated”.
“This gives you an idea that the main target for these new security measures will be Palestinians in [occupied] West Bank and not precisely Jordanians or the Palestinian population that lives in Jordan,” Zaccara told Al Jazeera.
According to Zaccara, the Israeli authorities are likely to summon someone within the Jordanian security apparatus to inquire what exactly happened.
“The fact that someone is coming with a gun from Jordan to the occupied West Bank is a security breach on the Jordanian side,” he added.
Moreover, Zaccara noted that this will not lead to any fighting between the two neighbours, as they had a “very long established security agreement”.
