WEB DESK: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has expressed concerns that Israel’s plan to annex the West Bank could seriously endanger the peace process.
He noted that the U.S. does not expect Israel to carry out this plan in practice and also criticized UNRWA, stating that it has effectively become an extension of Hamas and requires thorough oversight of its activities.
Rubio emphasized that Hamas cannot have a role in governing Gaza in the future, as its policies and actions are fundamentally opposed to peace.
He further stated that the Gaza task force would include only countries that are aligned with and have confidence in Israel.
Additionally, Rubio mentioned ongoing negotiations with Hamas regarding the return of hostages’ bodies, highlighting that the United States is working closely with its allies on this matter.
