Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that it is a high time to take effective steps to control Hepatitis-C in Pakistan
Addressing an event in Islamabad to mark the successful completion of National Hepatitis-C Elimination Program’s pilot project in Gilgit-Baltistan, the PM emphasized that it is high time to take effective steps to control the disease.
The Premier expressed firm commitment to eradicating Hepatitis-C from Pakistan.
He appreciated the efforts of those involved in the pilot project in Gilgit-Baltistan and expressed confidence that this initiative will lead to the elimination of the disease from the region.
He said the federal and provincial governments will work closely together to promote and expand the National Hepatitis C Elimination Program.
Shehbaz Sharif also mentioned that the Jinnah Medical Center, being established in the federal capital, is progressing swiftly, with its planning phase completed.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal described the National Hepatitis C Elimination Program as a flagship project in the health sector.
He expressed confidence that the disease will be eliminated before the current government’s term ends.
He also emphasized that raising awareness among the public is a key component of this initiative.
He expressed the hope that this project, with the cooperation of all stakeholders, will emerge as a successful model.
In his remarks, Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal vowed to meet the Prime Minister’s expectations in addressing the health related issues.
