Islamabad (January 03, 2018): Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Taro Kono will arrive in Pakistan on a two-day visit today.

According to the details, Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono will arrive in Islamabad on today on a two-day visit to Pakistan. During the visit, he will hold wide ranging talks on bilateral issues with Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif.

Both sides will also exchange views on regional and global issues.

The Japanese Foreign Minister will also meet Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.This is the first visit of a Japanese Foreign Minister to Pakistan since 2009.

During his stay, he will also meet his Pakistani counterpart and other high dignitaries to discuss matters of bilateral relations as well as regional and international situation.

In a statement, the foreign office spokesperson said Pakistan and Japan have witnessed steady progress in political, economic, trade and other fields and visit of Taro Kono will help further cement our bilateral ties.Earlier on December 20, 2017, Pakistan and Japan have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in security and counter terrorism.

The resolve was expressed during meeting of a Japanese delegation led by Ambassador in-charge of International Cooperation for Countering Terrorism Eiji Yamamoto with National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua in Islamabad.

Japan’s ambassador in Pakistan Takashi Kurai was also present in the meeting.

The National Security Advisor briefed the delegation on regional security situation with a particular reference to role of Pakistan in fighting terrorism.Achievements against terrorism and sacrifices made by the armed forces, intelligence agencies, law enforcement agencies and people were adequately highlighted.

The envoy appreciated Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism and expressed his country’s support to help Pakistan by extending technical expertise.

He also stressed on keeping a regular pace of bilateral engagements so that both the countries could have a better and secured future.
