Jordan’s King Abdullah II reviews Pakistan’s defence capabilities at GIDS, ISPR confirms

RAWALPINDI: Jordan’s King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein on Sunday inspected Pakistan’s defence industry and operational readiness during a detailed visit to Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS), the military’s media wing said.

Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a high-level civil and military delegation from Jordan accompanied the monarch. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, along with senior Pakistani military officials, welcomed the royal guests upon their arrival.

According to ISPR, King Abdullah II received an extensive briefing on GIDS’ organisational framework, indigenous technological progress, and its expanding product line. The presentation also underscored prospects for enhanced Pakistan-Jordan defence collaboration.

Following the GIDS tour, the Jordanian King proceeded to the Tilla Field Firing Ranges. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Industry, Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev, joined him for the occasion. The delegation observed a comprehensive fire and manoeuvre demonstration featuring integrated multi-domain operations, precise air and ground strikes, electronic warfare elements, and advanced drone systems.

King Abdullah II commended the professionalism and high operational skills displayed by the participating troops and aircrews. Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the deep-rooted trust and longstanding ties between Pakistan and Jordan, noting that the visit reflects the shared resolve to promote regional peace and prosperity.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding its defence partnership with the Hashemite Kingdom, saying military cooperation will continue to support stability in the region.

Earlier, during the visit, King Abdullah II awarded the Chief of Army Staff the Order of the Military Merit (First Degree) as recognition of his notable role in enhancing defence cooperation between the two nations.

The Jordanian monarch is currently undertaking a two-day official visit to Pakistan, reinforcing the historic relationship and brotherly ties between the two countries.
