LAHORE: In a recent development, Anti-Terrorism Court Lahore Judge Muhammad Arshad Javed, who presided over cases related to the May 9 incident and sentenced several PTI leaders including Ijaz Chaudhry, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, and Mian Mahmood Rashid, has been reassigned.
According to official notifications approved by Lahore High Court Chief Justice Justice Aalia Neelum, Judge Arshad Javed has been appointed as the District and Sessions Judge in Bahawalnagar. Conversely, District and Sessions Judge Bahawalnagar, Asif Bashir, has been transferred and will serve as OSD in the Sessions Court Lahore.
Both judges have been instructed to assume their new responsibilities by January 9, 2026. The transfer comes amid ongoing judicial reshuffles and administrative adjustments within the courts.
Judge Arshad Javed’s previous rulings in the May 9 cases attracted significant attention, as he delivered sentences to key PTI figures involved in the attacks. The transfer marks a notable shift in the judiciary’s personnel in Punjab.
