LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has decisively decided not to form an alliance with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and will not join any coalition established at the behest of PTI.
The JUI has also decided to continue its role as an independent opposition in the parliament, stating that it will not become part of the government. The party will review matters brought before the parliament and will determine, as necessary, whether to cooperate with the PTI.
According to sources within the JUI, a “Down with Israel” rally will be held on April 27 at the Minar-e-Pakistan Green Area, followed by gatherings on the same theme in Peshawar on May 10 and in Quetta on May 17.
The JUI has decided to support the stance of its Sindh organization regarding the issue of canals being dug in Punjab, and it has been determined that the party’s central organization will not adopt any course of action on this matter.
Concerning the minerals and mines law, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam will protect the constitutional interests of the provinces.
