ISLAMABAD: Junaid Akbar, leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has officially resigned from the role of chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, he submitted his resignation to Aamir Dogar, the PTI chief Whip in the National Assembly.
Junaid Akbar stated that he has stepped down from his positions on both the Public Accounts committee and the Energy Committee in accordance with directive from PTI founder Imran Kan. Additionally he noted that PTI member of National Assembly (MNA) Suhail Sultan has also resigned from the roles on the Law & Justice, Water Resources and SAFRON committees, and has submitted his resignation to the party.
Ex Chairman of Public Accounts Committee Junaid Akbar has confirmed that, under Imran Khan’s instructions, members of the party are resigning from parliamentary committees, and MNAs are forwarding their resignations to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq.
Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister and PTI founder, had directed party lawmakers to resign from all parliamentary committees, according to Aleema Khan, his sister. She made the announcement outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail after visiting her brother, who has been detained for four months. Aleema Khan mentioned that Imran Khan is in good health but experiencing some discomfort in his eye. She also noted that the PTI leader inquired about the wellbeing of her sons, Shershah Khan and Shahrez Khan, who were arrested over their alleged involvement in the attacks on Jinnah House and incidents of arson and vandalism on May 9, 2023.
