The famous singer-turned-religious scholar Juanid Jamshed along with his wife was on its way from Chitral to Islamabad when the passenger plane crashed. He died at the age of 52 years.
Jamshed soared to fame in the 1980s with Vital Signs, one of Pakistan’s first pop bands. Vital Signs was one of those acts that was both commercially and critically lauded, and its impact is still felt in the country’s pop music scene today.
At the top of his career as solo singer in 1990s, Jamshed gave up pop stardom and focus on nasheeds. He had almost 2.8 million Facebook fans. Jamshed was place in a list of ‘World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims’ this year.
