LAHORE: Justice Iqbal Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court (LHC) dismissed an appeal challenging the transfer of inheritance to a non-Muslim relative, reaffirming principles of Islamic law.
The case involved the distribution of 83 kanals of land in Gojra, originally owned by a deceased Muslim man. The property had been divided among the deceased’s Muslim children, but a grandson contested the inclusion of a share for his non-Muslim uncle.
In his ruling, Justice Chaudhry emphasized that Islamic teachings unequivocally prohibit non-Muslims from inheriting the property of Muslims. The court maintained that the decision adhered strictly to Islamic inheritance laws, which govern such matters for Muslims in Pakistan.
