ISLAMABAD: Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri of the Islamabad High Court has submitted a petition to the Supreme Court to challenge a verdict issued by the Sindh High Court.
In his plea, Justice Jahangiri has called for the Supreme Court to set aside the Sindh High Court’s decision dated September 25. He contended that the Sindh High Court erred by refusing his request to become a party in the case and proceeded with the ruling unilaterally, without providing him an opportunity to be heard a move he describes as unlawful. He also argued that the High Court failed to consider whether the case itself was legally maintainable.
The petition lists the Sindh Education Commission, University of Karachi, PEMRA, and other relevant entities as respondents.
Justice Jahangiri emphasized that he was not included as a party in the Sindh High Court proceedings and was denied the chance to appoint legal counsel before the decision was issued. He maintained that the matter concerning his academic degree should not have been handled by a constitutional bench, implying procedural irregularities.
He further highlighted his professional background, noting his previous roles within various bar associations, and asserted that the revocation of his degree appears to be motivated by malicious intent. He described the Sindh High Court’s ruling as legally flawed and rooted in bad faith.
